MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to help the African American individual, family, and community reach a greater state of well-being through the delivery of community-based, culturally specific chemical health, mental health, and family preservation services. ABOUT CULTURALLY SPECIFIC SERVICES Cultural specificity is defined as the creation of an environment in which the identity and experience of a people in a specific group or culture is recognized, explored, and accepted. The atmosphere of AAFS is one where not only African Americans can feel supported, but bi-racial and/or multicultural families can also feel that their needs will be met. Cultural differences must be accounted for to ensure that our clients are receiving help through a process that is tailored to their needs.
